A 21-gun salute was fired for Charles at Devonport Naval Base as he was proclaimed the King by New Zealand’s Parliament.
The Proclamation of Accession of King Charles III as the new King of New Zealand was held on the steps of Parliament at lunchtime Sunday.
Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern made brief comments before the proclamation was read by New Zealand Herald of Arms Phillip O’Shea.
